Raluca Micula | In Memory of Some Disorders

16.06.2023

For Raluca Micula performative practice represents a form of direct expression, suitable for overcoming emotional blockages and inner restlessness. During the performance "In Memory of Some Disorders," she associated movement with the writing process. Her older texts, intimate and painful confessions from the time when she was dealing with depression, panic attacks and insomnia, were gradually transcribed over the course of an entire week onto strips of semi-transparent, self-adhesive paper. The overlays faded in legibility as if in a healing process. At the same time, the multi-layered surface resulting from the performance is a kind of commemorative plaque dedicated to personal traumas and the acknowledgment of internal struggles as formative experiences.

Raluca Micula studied painting at the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara and she is completing her master's degree with a thesis on painting as a method of interpreting dreams, supervised by Liliana Mercioiu-Popa. Among the exhibitions she participated in we can mention: "Observation of the roots" French Institute, Timișoara, 2021; "Should I stay or should I go?" Novi Sad, Serbia, 2022; "Young Blood 2.0" XI edition, Art Safari, Bucharest, 2023; "Raiments", Park Gallery, Timisoara, 2023.
