Andreea Gugescu | "Beyond death/ You have no body"

07.11.2023

For the exhibition "Paul Neagu. Hyphen between then and now", Andreea Gugescu proposed two interventions through which she explores compositional arrangements with the human body as a fundamental reference.

The collages, presented in positive and negative, are visual interpretations of the poems "The Great Hourglass", "Goings", "Pagan Song", "Bliss" and "Cross Planting", written by Paul Neagu between 1966 and 1984.

The second intervention consists of an arrangement made up of drawings extracted from Andreea Gugescu's diary, through which the figure of "Dialectical Man" is recreated on a large scale. Following Paul Neagu's "cell man" method, each journal page becomes a cell within the anthropocosmic figure.
